Overexpression of ZmDUF1644 from Zoysia matrella enhances salt tolerance in Arabidopsis thaliana

چکیده

The DUF1644 family is a highly conserved and functionally unknown protein it has been demonstrated that significantly improved the salt tolerance of rice (non-halophytes). However, little understood about function gene in halophytes. This study aimed to investigate whether similar non-halophytes as halophytic species. functions ZmDUF1644 transferred from Zoysia matrella into non-halophytic Arabidopsis thaliana were investigated under stress (150 mM NaCl). Phylogenetic analysis clustered OsSDIP361 same group, which salt-tolerant genes rice. obtained results exhibited alleviated adverse effects on transgenic seedlings. maximum root length, fresh weight, photosynthetic pigment content seedlings obviously better than wild type. relative electrolyte leakage rate, Na+ content, Na+/K+ ratios relatively lower line type stress. Moreover, expression AtSOS2 was also higher wild-type concluded overexpressed salt-stressed thaliana, enhancing its tolerance. It first report glycophytic species or

Overexpression of NaKR3 enhances salt tolerance in Arabidopsis.

Salinity is a major abiotic stress in agriculture. Here, we report that SODIUM POTASSIUM ROOT DEFECTIVE3 (NaKR3), which encodes a heavy metal-associated domain protein, is involved in salt tolerance in Arabidopsis. The results of quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction analysis revealed that NaKR3 was induced by high salinity and osmotic stresses, but not by Cu(2+) stress. ...

A Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase from Jatropha curcas enhances salt tolerance of Arabidopsis thaliana.

Superoxide dismutases (SODs) are involved in protecting plants against diverse biotic and abiotic stresses. In the present study, a novel Cu/Zn-SOD gene (JcCu/Zn-SOD) was cloned from Jatropha curcas L. Quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction analysis revealed that JcCu/Zn-SOD is constitutively expressed in different tissues of J. curcas and induced under NaCl treatment. To ...

Heterologous Overexpression of Poplar SnRK2 Genes Enhanced Salt Stress Tolerance in Arabidopsis thaliana

Subfamily 2 of SNF1-related protein kinase (SnRK2) plays important roles in plant abiotic stress responses as a global positive regulator of abscisic acid signaling. In the genome of the model tree Populus trichocarpa, 12 SnRK2 genes have been identified, and some are upregulated by abiotic stresses. In this study, we heterologously overexpressed the PtSnRK2 genes in Arabidopsis thaliana and fo...

Overexpression of the PP2A-C5 gene confers increased salt tolerance in Arabidopsis thaliana

Protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) was shown to play important roles in biotic and abiotic stress signaling pathways in plants. PP2A is made of 3 subunits: a scaffolding subunit A, a regulatory subunit B, and a catalytic subunit C. It is believed that the B subunit recognizes specific substrates and the C subunit directly acts on the selected substrates, whereas the A subunit brings a B subunit and ...

Improved salt tolerance in canola (Brasica napus) plants by overexpression of Arabidopsis Na+/H+ antiporter gene AtNHX1

A significant portion of the world’s cultivated land is affected by salinity that reduces crop productivity in these areas. Breeding for salt tolerance is one of the important strategies to overcome this problem. Recently, genetic engineering is becoming a promising approach to improving salt tolerance. In order to improve the yield performance of canola in saline soils, we transformed canola w...
